Join us for Canajoharie's village wide Christmas celebration. Local restaurants and shops will be staying open late and horse drawn carriage rides will take off from in front of the museum. The library and museum are open for business and children can create a fun holiday ornament to take home. Inside the library we are hosting the opening reception for our Annual Juried Art Show.

Black Families in 19th Century Canajoharie Presented by Kelly Yacobucci Farquhar
Kelly has worked in the Montgomery County Department of History & Archives since 1996 with an appointment to County Historian/RMO in 2000. She has been researching the Underground Railroad and African American community in Montgomery County for the past 8 years. With funding from the Preservation League of New York State and the expertise of consultant, Judith Wellman, many wonderful findings resulted from a year-long survey.

"Stories from the Mohawk Valley" Presented by Bob Cudmore
Cudmore is an adjunct professor in the Department of Communications at the College of St. Rose in Albany where he has taught the popular course Introduction to Mass Media since 1988. He has written a regular column on Mohawk Valley history for the Daily Gazette newspaper for over a decade and recently published the book “Stories from the Mohawk Valley: The Painted Rocks, the Good Benedict Arnold & More.”
The mission of the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and the Canajoharie Library is to promote and celebrate the understanding and enjoyment of the arts and humanities in Canajoharie, the Mohawk Valley, and beyond.
The Arkell Museum collects, preserves, researches and presents American Art and Mohawk Valley History, and promotes active participation in art and history related activities, to enhance knowledge, appreciation and personal exploration by all.
