Nellis Tavern Benefit Antique Show

The Palatine Settlement Society will hold its 13th Annual Antique Show inside the Great Hall at the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie on Saturday, March 3rd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All proceeds will go directly to the restoration and continued preservation of the historic 1747 Nellis Tavern. Admission is $5.00.

This show offers a range of quality antiques and collectibles from over two dozen friendly and knowledgeable dealers who will be exhibiting and selling items such as furniture, quilts, books, tools, postcards, paintings, toys, china, jewelry and more.

Also, if you have something you would like appraised, George Heigle will be offering verbal appraisals on antique items for the price of $5.00 per item. There will be a selection of homemade sandwiches, soups, and desserts available for purchase during the show.

The 1747 Nellis Tavern is one of the many Mohawk Valley historic treasures. It is located on Rt 5 in St. Johnsville and features some of the best remaining examples of early American wall stenciling. The site is open every Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm, June through September or for special events.

Arkell Art Studio

Artists of all ages and their families are invited to explore basic art techniques, from acrylics to watercolors and everything in between. From week to week, we will explore new mediums and techniques, while also examining pieces in the Arkell Museum's collection and how the artists worked to create each unique work of art.

RSVPs and donations are not necessary but are always appreciated, as they help us get a better understanding of the number of supplies to prepare and help cover the cost of materials.

For more information, contact Curator of Education & Public Engagement Jenna Peterson Riley or call (518) 673-2314 x 113.
