Presidential Portraits

Home over Winter Break? Come celebrate a slightly belated Presidents Day with an up-close look at one of the most famous portrait artists of the colonial era; Gilbert Stuart. And who, you might ask, was his most famous subject? None other than our first president, George Washington! Learn more about the Arkell Museum's portrait of George Washington, how the portrait was painted, and make your own version of a presidential portrait!

This is a free program for artists of all ages and abilities. RSVPs and donations are not necessary but are always appreciated, as they help us get a better understanding of the number of supplies to prepare and help cover the cost of materials.

For more information, contact Curator of Education & Public Engagement Jenna Peterson Riley or call (518) 673-2314 x 113.
