Say Gay! Queer Artists in the Arkell Museum Collection

Join Arkell Museum's Curator of Education and Public Engagement, Mary Alexander, at 6:30 pm on Zoom for a special PRIDE month program!
We will look at artists in the Arkell Museum collection who self-identify as LGBTQIA+ or those that scholars have indicated probably were queer. Art historians are just beginning to break the surface of scholarship into queer artists pre-1960s. Words like "gay" or "lesbian" were not in use for much of the history of art. That does not mean that queer artists were not happily living and working during this time. This Zoom presentation will discuss queer artists in the Arkell Collection through use of collection images and recent scholarship on the subject.

Please join us for this awesome new program!
Audience: Teens and Adults
This is a FREE Zoom presentation and registration is required.
