The Peregrine Falcon Experience

Matt Perry, co-founder and President of the Utica Peregrine Falcon Project (UPFP), will give a presentation on the first ever successful nest of Peregrine Falcons in Utica and Oneida County. Perry will shed light on the fascinating lives of these urban-dwelling raptors. He’ll explain how the species bounced back from the brink of extinction to become a fixture in urban “canyons” across the State. The Peregrine is famous for being the fastest bird in the world, but there is much more to know about their complex lives. Many close-up pictures and videos will be featured in this PowerPoint Presentation. Matt Perry is the Conservation Director and Resident Naturalist at Spring Farm CARES' Nature Sanctuary in Clinton, New York, where he oversees habitat restoration for native plants and animals. He is one of the editors of "The Kingbird", a quarterly journal published by the New York State Ornithological Association. Matt also writes monthly nature-themed articles for Mohawk Valley Living Magazine.

This program is free to the public. For more information, contact Curator of Education & Public Engagement Jenna Peterson Riley.
