Let's Talk Art: The Ten in the Arkell Museum Collection

Join our Curator of Education as she discusses the artists who made up the Ten and appear in the Arkell Museum's permanent collection.

The Ten was a group of artists that first exhibited together in 1898 and continued to for the next 20 years. These artists broke with traditional locations for shows and struck out on their own to exhibit in a different style.
Artists of the Ten included: Childe Hassam, John Henry Twachtman, J. Alden Weir, Thomas W. Dewing, Joseph De Camp, Frank W. Benson, Willard Leroy Metcalf, Edmund Tarbell, Robert Reid, and E.E. Simmons. When Twachtman died in 1902, William Merritt Chase replaced him.

We will look at the importance of The Ten and the importance of The Ten to the Arkell Museum.
