Adirondack Lumber Camp Songs

Join us for an afternoon of rousing lumberjack songs!

Enjoy the music and learn about this tough, rough, and crucial work. This program also includes informative narratives about Adirondack Mountain logging camps in the 1800s.

Adirondack Lumber Camp Songs is a new program, launched in 2019 by award winning songwriters and singers Cosby Gibson and Tom Staudle, who live near the Adirondacks in upstate New York. Cosby and Tom have been performing as a duo for eight years and tour regionally and nationally. Together they play original and favorite tunes with a variety of instruments including guitar, fiddle, banjo, and harmonica, and in many settings such as festivals, concert series, house concerts, and events.

Cosby writes unique acoustic and folk-style songs. Her album "Into Mid-Air" was awarded Best Folk Album for the Capital District Original Music Awards in 2018. Cosby founded the community music project “The Flying Song Garden" to bring song and festivity to communities in hardship.

Tom writes and performs in acoustic, Americana, and Blues styles. He also organizes and hosts a large community open mic in Fultonville, New York, and a Party in the Park supported by local businesses. His new album was awarded Best Folk Lyrics for the Capital District Original Music Awards in 2018.

Cosby and Tom excel at designing and performing exceptional and informative music programs including Historic Songs of the Erie Canal, Poetry Songs and History Songs, Songwriters in the Round, and the new Adirondack Lumber Camp Songs. These are performed at libraries, historic centers, museums, and festivals. Cosby and Tom enjoy hearing from listeners.

This program runs about an hour and is most enjoyable for older children and adults

Admission to the program is free. Donations are always welcome and help support future programs.
