Musicians of Ma'alwyck: A Concert Evening

Join us September 16th for a special concert by Musicians of Ma'alwyck performing music in the unique space of our Original Art Gallery (Night Watch).

Enjoy the Museum galleries and some Prosecco before the concert! Then join us in the Night Watch gallery for a glorious musical travelogue performed by violinist Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, founder and director of Musicians of Ma'alwyck, and guitarist Sten Yngvar Isachsen. This special concert features pieces from Italian opera, transcriptions of Scottish folksongs, and Israeli hora, all played against a backdrop of work by Winslow Homer, William Merritt Chase, Childe Hassam, and more. An evening to savor both music and art!

Musicians of Ma'alwyck is a professional chamber music ensemble that specializes in music of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, tying music and historical venue together. Musicians of Ma'alwyck was founded in 1999 by violinist Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz who is also the director of the ensemble. Musicians of Ma'alwyck have performed several times at the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library. Most recently, in 2021, the ensemble performed in our Original Art Gallery and produced a video of the performance entitled Night Watch Revelry available on our YouTube page.

The mission of the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and the Canajoharie Library is to promote and celebrate the understanding and enjoyment of the arts and humanities in Canajoharie, the Mohawk Valley, and beyond.
